Best Film Award | International Competition | Biografilm Festival 2021
awarded by the jury to the best film of the International Competition
FLEE
by Jonas Poher Rasmussen
An animated film whose story is told through a continuous reference to new discoveries and which at the same time preserves the truth of documentary cinema. A game of parts, which sees the axis of the story move from the objective to the subjective, from us spectators to the protagonist in a game of mirrors that gives life to an intimate and universal story capable of involving and moving. To do this, the director masterfully and seamlessly uses different languages: hand drawing, almost a sketch, professional cartoon drawing, repertoire material. Perhaps the first time in an animated film, certainly an open road for the cinema of the future. With an expressive freedom that does not relate to technique but to art, the director manages to make history fly, and art is once again capable of changing our perception of things through emotions.
Special Mention | International Competition | Biografilm Festival 2021
SILENT VOICE
by Reka Valerik
Silent Voice proposes an iconoclastic cinematographic vision, evoking a sensorial perception of the protagonist’s trauma. By doing so, it reinforces the adage that just like in life what we don’t see is as important as what we see.
Hera “Nuovi Talenti” Award | International Competition | Biografilm Festival 2021
awarded by the jury to the best first feature of the International Competition
COURAGE
by Aliaksei Paluyan
The film COURAGE shows that every political struggle is a collective but also individual gesture that each of us must pursue. The film doesn’t portray top down despotism but the effects of ground level resistance due to constant suppression. By following the ordinary lives of its protagonists we start to perceive that every action which seems to be granted for us becomes an incalculable risk for themselves and their families. In process, it becomes an exemplary experience of courage and hope in the face of totalitarian control.

WHITE CUBE
by Renzo Martens
We award White Cube because it’s a good story. The protagonists from nothing managed to create something extraordinary: they had nothing and now they have their own land and can have a good life thanks to their own art. What happened to them doesn’t happen every day. Their life as ordinary people met the life of a privileged person, the director Renzo, and together they made their dreams come true.
“Bring The Change” Award | Biografilm Festival 2021
awarded by a youth jury composed by the students of the IV EMM class of Istituto di Istruzione Superiore Aldini Valeriani of Bologna on a selection of films.
EL AGENTE TOPO
by Maite Alberdi
The film gave us the possibility to appreciate the value of being with our loved ones, instead of abandoning them in a structure for the elderly. In fact, most of them suffer from loneliness. The subject of the film impact us due to its actuality. We believe that many people will be able to identify with the characters by watching El agente topo. Moreover, we decided to award your film also for technical quality, montage and narrative fluidity.

SUDDENLY
by Giordano Bianchi (Border Studio)
Among equally soulfull projects, we decided to offer support to one of them, bringing inanimated objects to this very quality. When a beloved one disappears, it is not the objects one leaves behind which really matters, but well the immaterial trace of a personnality, affection, and flair, which binds them, have them dialog and mirror each other, which remains, and which can only be kept forever in a film. The FIPADOC incentive award goest to Giordano Bianchi, with Suddenly. We wish this creative, quality filming and universal project will find at FIPADOC the occasion of finding a coproducing partner in France, with CNC access.
