Assigned the awards of the 11th edition of BIO TO B - Industry Days 2024


The jury of three Decision makers from the audiovisual industry, Suzanne Biermann (ARTE TV), Stephanie Owens (Sundance Film Festival), Jasmina Vignjevic (Syndicado), awarded three prizes:

The first is the Best Bio to B Award, a €1,000 prize that went to Soap Fever by Inka Achté. The documentary tells the incredible true story of the success of the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful in Finland and the effect it had on the population during the country's severe economic recession.

Second is the Best Bio to B Emilia-Romagna Project Award 2024 powered by ADCOM, a voucher worth €2,000 to be used for equipment rental at ADCOM, presented by Nicholas Ruffilli. The award went to director Christina Ifubaraboye and producer Elisa Mereghetti for Pülö - bloodstream of the Kirike. The documentary exposes the effects of colonialism and capitalism on Okrika Island in the Niger Delta, one of the most polluted places on the Planet.

Third is the DAE Documentary Association of Europe Bio to B Award, presented by Marion Schmidt Senior Consultant for DAE, to director Olena Fedyuk and producer Polina Georgescu for Funeralzzi. The award consists in: free membership (1 year) for the team and a consultation for the winning team. The documentary is the story of Natasha and Sergei and explores themes of loss, war, and people confronting death every day.

The Bio to B TOPDOC Award powered by TOPDOC went to director Giacomo Boeri and producer Carlo Alpeggiani for Stories for Sandro, a doc about a son's boundless love for his Alzheimer's patient father. The award was presented by Giulia Moretti - Producer and consists in: a first look when the projects is closed for an evaluation, possible acquisition and consequential pubblication on TOP DOC Prime Video Channel for 12 months.

The FIPADOC @ Bio to B Award 2024, presented by Marion Czarny, goes to The Last Rebels by Martina Scalini and Gianluca De Angelis, a documentary that chronicles the public and private side of two Last Generation activists.

The Verzio @ Bio to B Award 2024, presented by Verzio Film Festival director Eniko Gyuresko, goes to director Christos Stefanou and producer Giulia Amati for Moving Sisters (Fabula Productions, Blink Blink Prod, Frantasia Ltd). The Khani family leaves Afghanistan in search of a better future, only to be confined to the Eleonas refugee camp in Greece.

The MIA Market@ Bio to B Award 2024 awarded by Marco Spagnoli goes to Funeralzzi.

The Visioni Incontra @ Bio to B Award 2024 awarded by festival founder and director Francesco Bizzarri and consultant and coordinator Cinzia Masotina goes to Stories for Sandro.

The Bio to B Rising Talents Special Mention awarded by the Future Talents Jury goes to Stories for Sandro.

Also this year, the Make it Real Award, recognizing professionals who have distinguished themselves in the field of documentary film production and distribution, went to Academy Award®-nominated producer Signe Byrge Sørensen, for her passionate and ongoing efforts in discovering and supporting filmmakers such as Joshua Oppenheimer (Academy Award® nominee for Best Documentary for The Act of Killing) and Jonas Poher Rasmussen, director of the animated documentary Flee.

For Fiction Factory, the showcase of original subjects intended for film and publishing voted on by the audience and in the presence of the selection committee ScriptaBo Association, the awarded subject is Lady Car by Roberta Sciuto.
