Two Strangers Trying Not to Kill Each Other - Tonight Joel Meyerowitz and Maggie Barrett at Biografilm to tell their long love story

The fourth evening of the Biografilm Festival opens with Two Strangers Trying Not to Kill Each Other, the First Film by Jacob Perlmutter and Manon Ouimet. The directors, leads Joel Meyerowitz and Maggie Barrett and producer Signe Byrge Sørensen will accompany the screening, which will take place at 7:45 p.m. at the BIOGRAFILM HERA THEATRE | Pop Up Cinema Arlecchino. The film, an international co-production, comes to Biografilm as an Italian Premiere, in the Biografilm Art & Music section, dedicated to the life stories of artists and musicians.

What is the recipe for spending a lifetime together? Two Strangers Trying Not to Kill Each Other does not offer miraculous solutions, but tries to answer this question by showing us the everyday life of artists Joel Meyerowitz and Maggie Barrett, who have been linked for many years. The documentary thus tells the story of an artistic and sentimental partnership in an entertaining and moving way.

Thirty years after a chance meeting, Maggie and Joel, 75 and 84, are still very much in love. A long love affair requires training, especially in complicated moments. There is an element of unease in their relationship, which is exacerbated when Maggie falls and breaks her leg and Joel cares for her with love and dedication. In the shadow of mortality, facing impermanence, the couple attempts to find a deep, shared inner peace while there is still time. The documentary offers a deeply human portrait of Maggie and Joel, two people with long and dramatic lives behind them, who continue to share joys and sorrows.

Audiences will have the honor of meeting in the theater Joel Meyerowitz, a Bronx native and world-renowned photographer who boasts major exhibitions and 40 books, and Maggie Barrett, a British-born, talented artist and writer, as well as the film's directors and producer.

Two Strangers Trying Not to Kill Each Other is a film about everyone, in which life, creativity and the search for meaning are central to the narrative.
